Review: YOU Netflix Original Season 2

We’re finally here! Season 2 of the Netflix original series ‘YOU’ is here and I want to talk about it. It’s been nearly a year since I wrote my review of the first season and you lot seemed to really like it, which is really amazing. Thank you. So, I’m back again with the second season. Just like my first review I won’t include any spoilers of this season, but there will be some spoilers of the first (impossible for me not to include them), so if you haven’t watched it yet, what are you doing here?! Go do it. Now. Then come back and continue reading.

When we left off last season I wasn’t sure how Joe (Penn Badgley) was going to get away with his crimes, he was so reckless. But he did manage to somehow pin everything on someone else. This season Joe is no longer Joe, he’s now Will, living in Los Angeles. He’s away from all of the drama with Beck, Peach, and Paco now. Oh yeah, and his ex-girlfriend, who we all assumed was dead, is back. No big deal. The new love interest for Joe/Will is Love Quinn played by Victoria Pendretti.

Season one and season two are rather different, in my opinion. It’s almost like you could watch season two without really seeing season one, I’m pretty sure you could work out what’s happened. I’ve got to be honest with you, I watched the season then wrote this review in the same day saying how much I hated it, but on reflection I actually really like it. It’s been a few days now and I think I needed them to almost digest what happened because a lot happened!

I think my initial issue with season two is how different it is from the first. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. Due to the amount that happens you need to sit and think about it. There was a twist of some sort in nearly every episode. The storyline is kind of ridiculous but like, works? And people have curtains this season, yay!

I’ve been reading tweets from people that have watched it and I can see that the general conclusion is that it’s a bloody wild season that people really enjoyed. I think I may have to watch it again to make my final decision but I do recommend checking it out and deciding for yourself.
